And Pilate again answered and said unto them, What then shall I do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?

And Pilate again answering, saith to them: What will you then that I do to the king of the Jews?

And Pilate answering said to them again, What will ye then that I do to him whom ye call King of the Jews?

And Pilate again said in answer to them, What then am I to do to him to whom you give the name of the King of the Jews?

But Pilate, responding again, said to them: "Then what do you want me to do with the king of the Jews?"

Pilate, however, spoke to them again, "What should I do then with the man whom you call the 'king of the Jews'?"

And Pilate answered and said again unto them,.... Being astonished that they should ask the release of such an infamous person; and being very desirous of saving Jesus:
what will ye then that I shall do unto him, whom ye call the king of the Jews? at least many of you; would you have me put him to death? surely this can never be desired; or would you have me inflict some slight punishment on him, as scourging him, and so dismiss him? See Gill on Matthew 27:22.
