Then the priest shall look on him: and, behold, if the scall be spread in the skin, the priest shall not seek for yellow hair; he is unclean.

He shall seek no more whether the hair be turned yellow, because he is evidently unclean.

and the priest hath seen him, and lo, the scall hath spread in the skin, the priest seeketh not for the shining hair, he is unclean;

Then the priest shall look on him: and, behold, if the scale be spread in the skin, the priest shall not seek for yellow hair; he is unclean.

Then the priest is to see him: and if the mark is increased, the priest, without looking for the yellow hair, will say that he is unclean.

he shall no longer inquire as to whether the hair has turned yellow, because he is plainly unclean.

Tune inspiciet eam sacerdos: et, si creverit macula illa in cute, non requiret ad examen sacerdos pilum flavum: immundus est.

Then the priest shall look on him: and, behold, if the scall be spread in the skin, the priest shall not (k) seek for yellow hair; he [is] unclean.
(k) He shall not care whether the yellow hair is there or not.

Then the priest shall look on him,.... Again, and which is no less than the fourth time; for notwithstanding his being pronounced clean, he was still subject to the inspection of the priest, if any alteration appeared:
and, behold, if the scall be spread in the skin; which was a certain sign of a leprosy:
the priest shall not seek for yellow hair; or be solicitous about that, whether there is any or not, for either one or the other of these signs were sufficient to determine the case:
he is unclean; and so to be pronounced.

He shall not seek - He need not search for the hair, or any other sign, the spreading of it being a sure sign of leprosy.
