And took it the same day: and put to the sword all the souls that were in it, according to all that he had done to Lachis.

and capture it on that day, and smite it by the mouth of the sword, and every person who is in it on that day he hath devoted, according to all that he did to Lachish.

And that day they took it, putting it and every person in it to the sword, as he had done to Lachish.

And he also defeated it on the same day. And he struck all the souls that were in it with the edge of the sword, in accord with all that he had done to Lachish.

Ceperuntque eam die illo, et percusserunt acie gladii, et omnem animam quae illic erat, die illa interfecit prorsus ut fecerat Lachis.

And they took it on that day,.... The same day they encamped about it and besieged it; the besieged finding they were not able to keep it:
and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein he utterly destroyed that day; made an utter devastation of all its inhabitants:
