and they shall be afraid of thee; as not only the Canaanites were, but all other nations; see Deuteronomy 11:25.
called by the name of the Lord--That they are really and actually His people (Deuteronomy 14:1; Deuteronomy 26:18).
Of the Lord - That you are in truth his people and children: A most excellent and glorious people, under the peculiar care and countenance of the great God.
