11 even to the carpenters and to the builders gave they it, to buy cut stone, and timber for couplings, and to make beams for the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed.
*Minor differences ignored. Grouped by changes, with first version listed as example.
The "houses" intended are either the "chambers" which surrounded the temple on three sides 1-Kings 6:5, or out-buildings attached to the courts. The "kings of Judah" intended are, no doubt, Manasseh and Amon.
Even to the artificers and builders gave they [it], to buy hewn stone, and timber for couplings, and to floor the (f) houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed.
(f) For there were many portions and pieces annexed to the temple.
Even to the artificers and builders gave they it,.... To the masons and carpenters:
to buy hewn stone; to put in the room of that which was decayed or fallen down:
and timber for couplings; of boards, beams, and rafters:
and to floor the houses; the chambers, the apartments in the temple, which belonged to the priests and Levites:
which the kings of Judah had destroyed; the idolatrous ones, who had let them go to decay and ruin, taking no care of them.
Houses - The chambers joining to the temple.
